Moving Shadows

For Science this week we went down to the basketball court as soon as we arrived at school and traced our shadows using chalk.  We recorded our names and the time inside our shadow.

We then made some predictions on what we thought was going to happen to our shadows throughout the day and why.

Later that day (after lunch) we went and checked our shadows and discovered that they had moved!  We re-drew our new shadow position and then went back to class to discuss what had happened.

We discussed how scientists make predictions on why things happen and that this is called a HYPOTHESIS.  As scientists, testing a hypothesis to discover answers is very exciting.

Here are some photos of the students tracing their shadows:

A New Beginning…

This is an exciting new year for my family and I as we have moved from Sydney, NSW to the Alpine Shire in Victoria.

I am now working in a beautiful school in Myrtleford which has welcomed me warmly and given me a great bunch of students to work with.

Keep watching this blog for updates on things we are doing and discovering.

Live well,

Mr Lindsay
