Global Aid Project

During this term we have been engaging in a unit called, Global Connections.

The purpose of this unit is to help the students understand that our world is globally connected through many different ways, such as:

  • Trade
  • Communication and technology
  • Travel

But most importantly, we discussed the importance of being a responsible global citizen and that God has a heart for the whole world.  It is our responsibility to care for those in the world who are less fortunate than us.

To help reinforce this concept, each student had to investigate a global aid project.  Students had to present their case for the Global Aid Project in the hope of receiving a grant of $25 000 to fund their project.  Here is the task in case you are interested in finding out more.

The students also use de Bono’s Thinking Hats to reflect on what they had learned.  See Global Connections Thinking Hats Reflection

After much consideration, Michelle was chosen as the winner of the grant.  Here is her speech…

Junior School Disco

Last Friday was our Junior School Disco.

It was great to see the kids come dressed in the You Can Do It colours and show me some awesome dance moves.

I was very impressed with Maxwell and his flashing glasses.

Check him out getting groovy…
