Declan’s Holiday

Declan with Deer 2On the holiday I went to the Deer and Emu Farm with my family.

We all fed the emus and deer.  The biggest deer there was my favourite.  I sat down next to the deer, rubbed her cheek and the top of her head.  She wagged her tail and followed me everywhere.

It was really fun.

End of Term Board Games

Designing and making a board game around a topic of theme that has been covered during the term is a great way to consolidate learning.

Students worked in pairs to create some great board games which we then played on the last day of term.

Some games had little basketball hoops while others had little soccer goals which required you to kick a soccer ball through.  We had some board games on The Pagemaster (the book we read this term) and others based on readers which the students have read/created.

Here are some shots of the students playing the games.

Well done to Declan whose game was voted the most popular!

College Values Competition

To help raise the profile of the College Core Values students from P-5 held a Values Competition.

Our College Values are:

  • Be Respectful
  • Be Responsible
  • Be Safe
  • Be a Responsible Community Member

P-2 had a colouring competition on each of the College Values.

3-4 had to design a poster on one of the values and decorate it.

Year 5 worked in teams to put together a short video promoting one of the values.

Today our principal chose the winner from each class.

All the students had a great time competing in the competition and looking at the values which our College is working towards.

Howman’s Gap Camp

Last week, 26th to 28th March 2014, the 3/4s and some teachers went to Howman’s Gap Camp for some fun.

On the first day all of us got on the bus to Falls Creek.  We went on the high ropes which was awesome!  Soup that night was YUCK!

On the next day we went rock climbing and I nearly went upside down.  It was scary.  Dinner was a roast and it was YUMMY!  Then we had a movie night with pillows – it was fun.

On the last day we did archery where I came last because it was very hard.  After that we went on the giant swing.  I think the swing was cool.

My first camp was AMAZING and I had a great time with my class.

From the 26th to the 28th of March 2014 the 3/4s and teachers with Mrs Brock went to Howman’s Gap camp for fun.

On the first day we got into our groups and I was in Group 1.  We did the Giant Swing first and then we did Bush Art.  Nathan, Liam and I made a life-sized teepee.  It was really fun.

On the second day we did High Ropes followed by Orienteering.  We did the activities in the pouring rain.  It really wasn’t fun.

On the third day my group did Rock Climbing and Archery.  In archery no-one got a bulls-eye.  I hit a target and two other people did too.  In rock climbing I didn’t get to the top.

I liked Howman’s Gap Camp because it was really exciting.
