Learning the Ukelele

The Deputy Principal paid me a surprise visit last week and asked me a strange question…

“Would you like some ukeleles?”

Um…sure!

After tuning them up with my trusty iPhone app I learned a couple of chords and that afternoon conducted my first ukelele lesson with 6L.

It was great fun.

We are working on the song, Riptide by Vance Joy.

Keep checking back on our blog and I will upload a video of us playing it closer to the end of term.

Mother’s Day Paper

Today we had a Mother’s Day stall and the students bought some lovely gifts for their mums. I gave the class some time to make some wrapping paper and cards to make their gifts complete.

Here is Morgana’s wrapping paper – it looks like a piece of Art!

Alliteration

For Writing this week the students have been creating alliteration poems. We heard a lot of stories about slimy snakes, however, here are a couple of great ones…

Slim, slimy Sara Snake slides through the Savannah in the sun every Saturday, sometimes after Snake School, slithering slowly down slopes of sand. Sara was sad so she slithered over to Sally Snake. Sara told Sally why she was sad so they sang a silly song. Sara went slithering home to Silvia and Sammy. They were serving possum with a side of scat. Sara slurped her food and slithered over to the soft but stinky and slimy sofa to watch Silly Snake’s friends while slipping her Solo. Afterwards she felt sick. She was not slim anymore. She was as slow as a sloth. By Tara

There was a winky wonky walrus who was weird and winky. The walrus waddled and woddled with William the walrus who was the weirdest walrus who sat on walls. He walked when he was woken up by the winky, wonky walrus. By Ashley
