National Young Leaders Day

On Friday 13th March, the year 6 captains and vice captains (Madison, Isis and Josh went down to Melbourne for the National Young Leaders Day (Halogen Conference). We heard some guest speakers talk about leadership.

We heard Mike Martin (the leader of Halogen) and then Bindi Irwin talk about conservation and some of the amazing things her father did. After that we had a morning tea break.

In the next session we heard the famous author, Andy Griffiths speak. He spoke about how to come up with interesting story ideas by just using the everyday things around us. During his talk he stuck a baby’s head on a dinosaur body! After that we had a fun game with beach balls. We also listened to Jess Gallagher who is a Paralympic athlete who competes in downhill skiing with hardly any eyesight.

After lunch we had our final speaker named Coen Ashton. He has had a double lung transplant because he suffered from Cystic Fibrosis. He travelled all the way down the Murray River 2 times!

On the way home we stopped at McDonald’s and we got back to school just before 6pm.
